With NYFW finally wrapped, it would be rude not to talk about our favourite show and what a pretty spectacular way to end New York Fashion Week. Gigi, Karlie Kloss and Irina Shayk were only a few of the top models who walked down the catwalk yesterday afternoon, but it was Marc Jacobs that really got us all smiling with his wild imagination!
The models walked through fake splotches of puddles and hundreds of raw light bulbs unevenly hanging down to decorate the runway. All in sky high (8 inch) kinky platform boots! Are we at a 90's rave or the Hammestein Ballroom on 34th street? I was in my PJS in bed!
The raver like collection started out with a soft pastel coloured palette but it moved into shocking pinks and purples along side camouflage prints. With shiny metallic hot pants and leggings, thigh high rainbow socks, big platform shoes (again), oversized hoodies with stripes and sheer baby doll dresses. So sheer in fact we could see Bella's nips!
Fifty five dreads sat atop of the heads of all the models! Each dread a different colour but all grouped together to create a pony tail that rode high on top of the head, with the tails spilling along the sides of the face. The dread look was inspired by the Matrix director Lana Wachowski who sports a similar look and starred in one of Marc Jacobs campaign. To complement the hair Francois Nars created six different sheer glossy eye looks.
All in all it was a great show and a great end to NYW. Although it caused some uproar on social media for having a predominantly white model catwalk in faux dreadloacks but people always have something to say, don't they! I think Marc did a great job!
