Antoinette Jordaine has been inspired by architecture since she was a small child. Beginning her unfinished collection entitled ‘Buildings that Shaped Me’ in 2017 she had planned to add to the collection over the coming years and as if by synchronicity she was contacted to exhibit her artwork at the Television Centre. The Television Centre has been the single most monumental building in Antoinette Jordaine’s life over the past 5 years. In a multitude of ways her life has evolved around this iconic structure, so when asked to show her work she felt it a true honour.
Selective about collaborations and partnerships, Antoinette Jordaine wanted to share this wonderful space with only one other artist… Charlotte Posner.
Being an incredible platform for connecting when used well, and especially during the uncertain times we are all currently experiencing, Antoinette Jordaine and Charlotte met via social media. They have admired each other's work, parallel visions and ethos for over 7 years. Both being ambitious and driven, they have now joined their creative forces to strike an energetic partnership. They are thrilled to announce the launch of their debut collaborative works inspired by the Television Centre and their love of speaking positive affirmations especially during these trying times.
Starting this project during a global pandemic the Artists met in person for the first time onsite, and not only did they feel like they had known each other personally for years together they fell in love with the glory and beauty of the building in quieter times. Taking a multitude of photos, videos, sketching and Googling the rich history of the worlds first purpose built television production complex they sat under the Solar Pergola to draft ideas of how, and where they could display their artwork. Both working similarly in a traditional method by using pencil on paper first, followed by ink, paints, and their chosen mediums. They individually worked on their pieces before combining their works and working on each other's pieces, along with Zoom and Whatsapp calls to create this body of work. They are excited knowing that this will be the first of many to come.
